Here's what Australian women are doing with their tampons
ANYTHING CAN BECOME political, as is evidenced by the fact that women in Australia have taken to sending the country’s immigration minister tampons and sanitary towels in the post.
It’s all to protest claims that female asylum seekers being held across Australia do not have the appropriate access to the products.
According to the RISE charity, women are forced to ask for these products when they need them, then they have to queue, only being given one or two at a time – substantially fewer than are needed.
As a result, Destroy the Joint, an online feminist organisation have called upon Australian women to post the neccessary items to MP Scott Morrison, the member of government with responsibility in that area.
