AFTER THE NEWS of Avicii’s death was announced on Friday evening, there have been countless tributes paid to the DJ.
Thousands of fans gathered in Stockholm, the city in which Avicii (whose real name is Tim Bergling) was born for a minute’s silence on Saturday, to pay their respects to the 28-year-old.
On the opposite side of the world, thousands more gathered to see Kygo’s emotional tribute to Avicii during his Coachella set.

Last night, Tim’s family released their first statement since Bergling’s death was announced over the weekend.
They began their statement by saying:
We would like to thank you for the support and the loving words about our son and brother. We are so grateful for everyone who loved Tim’s music and have precious memories of his songs.
Acknowledging the countless tributes, they said:
Thank you for all the initiatives taken to honour Tim, with public gatherings, church bells ringing out his music, tributes at Coachella and moments of silence around the world.
Bergling’s family concluded:
We are grateful for the privacy during this difficult time. Our wish is that it continues that way. With love, The Tim Bergling Family.
Police have reported that after two postmortem examinations, they can confirm that there is no criminal suspicion in the death.
