Police department boosts Facebook likes with the help of a stuffed duck
FORGET EVERYTHING YOU heard about how to build your brand’s social media presence, because stuffed ducks are the way to go and this police department is demonstrating how.
Back in April, the Bangor Maine Police Department hired a new public information officer, Sgt. Tim Cotton, who was charged with manning their Facebook.
Believing that police offers weren’t the big spoilsports everyone makes them out to be, he sought to add a dash of humour to their social media output by featuring a stuffed duck in every post and naming him Duck of Justice or DoJ.
Here he is checkin’ out the view.

Since Cotton took over his new position, the Facebook account’s popularity has increased significantly, attracting over 8,000 new likes. The page now has close to 22,000 likes.
Nothing lame about that duck, wha’.
