“BERNARD WOULD LIKE to sample some Chardonnay wines before sound check…..”
…That’s so he can pick which ones (six bottles, if you don’t mind) he’d like served in the dressing room while he and his band New Order are playing at headline slot at this weekend’s Forbidden Fruit festival in Dublin.
The organisers of the event have let slip what the band, best known for their hit Blue Monday, will be expecting when they arrive on site in Kilmainham for the second day of the three-day festival.
Lighting in the dressing room for the band should be “subdued” and flourescent strip lighting and bare light bulbs are simply “not acceptable”.
They must be a thirsty lot too because along with the six bottles of “GOOD QUALITY” Chardonnay, there needs to be two bottles of Sauvignon blanc, two of rosé and two of Cabernet Sauvignon. As for the beers and ciders, along with the usual suspects, there’s a chance to slip “one case of local bottled beer” in there too. Which will it be?
It’s not all about the booze though, with tea and coffee making facilities being demanded too, along with “ENGLISH TEA BAGS please”. Well, excuse us.
Also on the rider are:
- One loaf of fresh French crusty bread
- A small selection of cheeses
- Unlimited ice
- A selection of crispy vegetables
- A carpet in the dressing room
- A lock with one key, which should be given to the tour manager.
Phew!
Forbidden Fruit kicks off on Saturday with the likes of Leftfield, Friendly Fires and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble playing, along with Irish bands Le Galaxie and Republic of Loose and Stockholm’s The Field. Joining New Order on Sunday are Death Cab for Cutie, The Rapture, Death in Vegas, Grimes and Dublin’s Little Green Cars.
Wilco, Beirut, Dubliner James Vincent McMorrow and Mazzy Star round off proceedings on Monday in the ground of IMMA in Dublin.
