Beauty trends we need to leave behind in 2018
MAKEUP TRENDS COME and go – sure wasn’t it only yesterday that people were drawing squiggle brows on themselves for the craic?!
Like every year, there were questionable ones in 2018 – some long standing, some new ones cropping up. Make it your New Year’s Resolution to drop a few of these from your every day routine (and maybe pick up some new ones while you’re at it.)
1. Shite shade ranges

Whether it’s willful ignorance from the brand or an attempt to garner some media attention, brands were flat out dropping products with woeful shade ranges in 2018.
In 2019, let’s keep it inclusive.
2. Sheet masks

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh we’re about to get controversial up in here! Let’s be real though, sheet masks are wasteful when it comes to product, and just not as environmentally sound. Are they even worth the gas selfie when they’re actively contributing to fatbergs? No thanks!
3. Warm toned palettes

Ok, let’s not get ahead of ourselves here – I’m not encouraging everyone to throw away their Naked palettes.
However, there’s only so many rose-gold smokey eyes you can look at on your feed before everything starts to look the same. While they’re definitely not as wearable, isn’t it time greens and blues got shown a little love?
If you’re in dire need of some inspo, look no further than Melt Cosmetics Smoke Sessions palette.
4. Batshit lashes
Case in point – these ones from Little Mix’s range of lashes.
No chance of you getting more than one wear out of those bad boys.
5. Droppers for foundation and concealer

What seems like a handy way of evenly distributing product often ends up being more hassle than it’s worth.
Just give me a pump and leave me alone. (That’s what he said.)
6. Overly complicated skincare routines/products
You do not need 8,000 oils and serums to complete your evening. It’s understandable why you might want them.
7. Sponges
Can we keep justifying these bacteria-ridden, wasteful vessels when brushes such as the Smashbox Blurring Foundation brush exists? (Hat tip to makeup artist Karla K for showing us all the light.)
8. Blinding highlight
We’re keeping it subtle and sheen-y in 2018. Please.
9. Novelty brushes
We don’t need unicorn horns or mermaid decals. We just need brushes that serve their purpose. Please.
10. Glitter that isn’t biodegradable

There’s loads of environmentally friendly alternatives, so you don’t have to worry about looking basic AF at Electric Picnic next year.
