BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH IS currently starring in Hamlet at the Barbican in London. The show is proving to be REALLY popular, with fans queuing up outside the auditorium 20 hours before the box office opened. The production of the Shakespeare play has been struck with some technical difficulties, receiving a mixed critical reaction so far.
Imagine being up there, with all of that pressure, and all you can see is red lights and camera phones.
The actor stood outside the stage door after the show to ask fans to use social media to push a message that people should stop attempting to record the show.
I can see cameras in the auditorium. It may not be any of you here but it’s blindingly obvious. It’s mortifying and there’s nothing that’s less supportive or enjoyable as an actor on stage experiencing that.
He further explained that he wanted to give audiences a live performance that will ‘be remembered in their minds and brains’ whether it’s good or bad or indifferent.
Cumberbatch also warned the Cumberbitches that devices will be installed next week to detect the cameras.
This isn’t me blaming you, this is just me asking you to ripple it out there in the brilliant beautiful way that you do with your funny electronic things. I’d really appreciate it.
Oh Benny, look at you pretending to be all out of touch.
