LAST NIGHT, FORMER Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, appeared on The Ray D’Arcy Show.
With the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement at the forefront of the public’s consciousness, Bertie was invited to reflect on the process which ultimately led to one of the most significant political developments in the Northern Irish Peace Process.
Alongside Senator George Mitchell, Bertie gave viewers an insight into Stormont negotiations as the 90s came to a close before deflecting a host of questions regarding the possibility he may run for President if good old Miggeldy Higens decides to exit stage left.
And his appearance seriously divided viewers.
People, the length and breadth of Ireland, wasted no time taking to Twitter to air their views on the topics discussed, the line of questioning taken by Ray, and RTÉ’s decision to invite Bertie to appear in the first place.
Talk about your mixed bag.
