25 books by women authors to read before 2017 is out

The best books by women authors this year.

THIS WEEKEND, A New York Times columnist named Sam Sifton caused consternation when he asked readers for suggestions on books to read by women authors.

Critics called the request “insulting” and “demeaning,” and were critical of Sifton’s decision to crowdsource suggestions as opposed to doing the work himself.

With that in mind, however, we decided to highlight some great books published in 2017 that just so happen to be written by women.
