5 affordable suncreams that will work with, not against, your makeup

No excuses!

IRISH PEOPLE ARE very good at enjoying the few days of summer we have, but very bad at one key element: Putting on suncream.

It can all feel like a lot of effort, especially when you introduce makeup to the equation – but it’s worth it, and these suncreams will convert you.

Obviously it all comes down to what you like on your skin, but here are some highly rated and affordable options.

1. Soltan Once Face Moisturising Suncare Cream, €9

This is great because it does away with the layering and layering of creams on your face – it moisturises and protects at the same time, and lasts for up to eight hours. Minimal fuss.

2. Eucerin Sun Face Fluid, €20 (on sale for €15)

Eucerin is beloved by those with sensitive skin, and this light sunscreen offers total protection without irritation. Plus, it dries down matte, making a great base for makeup.

3. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Anti-Shine Gel, €20 (also on sale for €15)

This genuinely looks and feels like nothing on the skin, which is very exciting for the oily-skinned among us (though dry-skinned people might find it just a touch too mattifying – if that’s you, try this from the Anthelios range).

4. Piz Buin Allergy Sun Sensitive Face Cream, €7.50

A good choice for the palest of the pale and those particularly susceptible to burning. It’s easy-going on sensitive skin while being non-greasy. And that price? Very nice.

5. Garnier Moisture Bomb UV Mist, €12.99

Unlike the other options on the list, you spritz this on over your makeup like you would a setting spray – we would use this to top up our SPF over the day, rather than relying on the spray to adequately protect the whole face.

Now you have absolutely no excuse. Slap it on!
