An Púcán in Galway officially serve the best Gin & Tonic in Ireland... here's what's in it

It was voted the best of 227 Gin and Tonics across the country.

LAST YEAR GALWAY restaurant and bar An Púcán won Connacht Cocktail Bar of the Year. It appears that cocktails are not their only drinks worth getting excited about, because this summer they’ve managed to bag the Great Irish Beverages award for the Best Irish GnT.

Located on the corner of Eyre Square, An Púcán’s premium Gin and Tonic costs €9, but appears to be well worth it. They received the most votes of the 227 entrants from across the country for their take on the humble but reliable drink that is a Gin and Tonic.

Unsurprisingly it contains one of Ireland’s favourite gins, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin by P.J. Rigney. This gin was only launched in May 2016 and is already on the shelves of pretty much any decent bar you enter in the country. It’s made by The Shed Distillery, which is the first distillery in Connacht for 101 years.

It’s mixed with Fever Tree Indian Tonic Water that comes in a load of delightful flavours, but for An Púcán’s award winning version, their preferred flavour is fresh chilli and mango. Sounds very adventurous.
