We’ve got the meat sweats already.

CALLING ALL CARNIVORES! Do you like meat? We mean, really, really like meat? Are you always on the hunt for your next amazing steak? Look no further.

In no particular order, here are 10 great places in Ireland to get a good steak.

1. Harte’s Bar and Grill, Kildare Town

Harte’s steak on a stone means business. Each rock is heated to 440 degrees before the steak is handed over to the customers to slice and sear themselves. Delish.

2. The Fisherman’s Cottage, Inis Oirr

You want off the beaten track? You’ve got it. The Fisherman’s Cottage at South Aran House serves up a fantastic steak with beautiful views to boot.

3. Sage Restaurant, Midleton, Co Cork

The majority of Sage’s produce comes from within 12 miles of the restaurant, so you know what you’re getting is fresh, fresh fresh. Try the beef fillet and see for yourself.

4. The Butcher Grill, Ranelagh, Dublin

The Butcher Grill is a little on the spendy side, but if you want good steak, sometimes you have to shell out. The 24oz Cotes de Boeuf (above) feeds two for €58 (or €45 on Mondays and Tuesdays) and comes with smoky beans and onion rings the size of your head.

5. Rouge, Dominick St, Galway

This French restaurant has been a firm favourite in Galway for years now – the steak is huge, pre-sliced, and always cooked to perfection.

6. Darwin’s, Aungier St, Dublin

Though it might be overlooked in favour of the ‘cooler’ spots, anyone who’s been there will tell you that Darwin’s has the best steak in the capital. Give it a try.

7. Kai, Galway

Kai’s dry aged strip loin is revered by Galwegians. It’s not always on the menu though, so ask before you book.

8. Monasterboice Inn, Drogheda

Tucked away just off the M1, the steak here has been pronounced “the stuff of legend” by one enthusiastic TheJournal.ie staffer.

9. L’Gueuleton, Fade St, Dublin

This French restaurant on Dublin’s trendy Fade Street serves up perfectly-sized steaks, with amazing sauces and moreish chips to boot.

10. McLeary’s, Waterford
