Here's the best time of the day to do these 9 things

How to live your best life.

1. The best time to drink your first coffee…

Contrary to what your body may tell you, the best time to have coffee is not first thing in the morning. According to neuroscientist Steve Miller, the stress hormone cortisol peaks between 8am and 9am, meaning that your brain is already perky and alert.

Therefore, if you work a 9 to 5 job, it’s best to save your first caffeine fix until 9.30am when cortisol levels begin to drop.

2. The best time to do your food shop…

If you’re health-conscious, then it might be better to shop earlier in the day.

Researchers at Cornell University found that people who shopped between 1pm and 4pm were less inclined to buy high calorie foods than those who shopped between 4pm and 7pm.

But whatever you do, don’t shop when you’re hungry.

3. The best time to send an e-mail

According to data collected by Mailchimp, the best time to send an e-mail might be around 2pm as e-mails tend to, you know, actually get read between 2pm and 5pm.

The more you know, eh?

4. The best time of the day to weigh yourself…

We’ve all been there — you’re in a friend’s bathroom and notice a weighing scales in the corner of the bathroom. You slip off your shoes and quickly hop on.

DON’T DO IT.

Unless it’s first thing in the morning, that is, as that’s the most preferable time of the day to weigh yourself.

5. Best time to stumble upon a Twitter beef…

People are tired and emotional, you know yourself.

Tuesday’s your best bet!

According to a study conducted by Expedia, Tuesday was the best day to get the cheapest flight. (Once it was booked at least three weeks in advance.)

7. The best time to take a nap…

That all depends on whether you’re an early bird or a night owl. (And, of course, if your workplace is cool with you going for a quick disco nap in the middle of the day.)

If you get up at around 6am and go to bed around 10am, the optimum time to catch some shut eye is around 1pm/1.30pm.

Meanwhile, if you’re up and at ‘em at 8.30am, it’s best to take it closer to 2.30pm or 3pm

8. The best time to get the ride…

In the morning, of course. Testosterone and energy levels are high meaning it’s the perfect time to get it on.

The earlier the better.

According to experts, the best time to water your plants is early in the morning when temperatures are cooler and plants can absorb water before it evaporates.

10. The best time to send a brilliantly witty tweet…

Tweets are most likely to be retweeted between 3pm and 6pm as that is when people grow lethargic and begin to rely on the brilliance of others.

Save your best stuff till then.
