NOT ONLY HAS Beyonce just announced she’s coming to Dublin this summer:
She’s also just marked her place on the throne of pop music with a Super Bowl halftime show that left Chris Martin and the rest of the Coldplay lads in her shadow.
Coldplay kicked things off with a trio of tunes, before Bruno Mars provided a much-needed buffer with a performance of (surprise surprise) Uptown Funk.
Hot on the heels of the release of her surprise Formation single and video on Saturday night, Beyoncé made the risky move of performing the song last night, complete with take-your-eye-out choreography and an homage to Michael Jackson with her military-inspired outfit.
The New York Times describes Beyoncé as giving Coldplay a “much needed assist”, while The Guardian says she “effortlessly stole the Super Bowl halftime show from right under Coldplay’s noses”. Beyoncé and Bruno Mars performing together “brought screaming jolts of soul and funk and jubilation onto a stage that until that point had lacked all of those things“.
The critics of Twitter agreed…
Who run the world indeed.
