AFTER HURRICANE HARVEY wreaked havoc on the state of Texas, leaving at least 70 people dead and countless homes destroyed, Beyoncé and her mother Tina flew from LA to Houston to help those affected.

First they headed to their church, St. John’s with their pastor. Beyoncé and her mother sponsored a luncheon for 400 people affected by the hurricane and served lunch to them.

Some photographs even show Beyoncé’s 5-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter giving a hand.

After the three generations of Knowles women served food, the family held a short program to motivate victims and encourage them to remain hopeful.

In Beyoncé’s speech, she told Houston residents:

Today is a celebration of survival. Y’all are my family, Houston is my home, and I thank God that y’all are safe, that your children are safe, the thing that really matters is your health and your children and your family and your life. I just want to say that I love you.

Her speech was met with cheers and applause. In a very rare move, Beyoncé (who is usually very private) took time to take photographs and videos with fans.

Spirits were definitely raised by the presence and engagement of Beyoncé.
