Everyone is giving out about this dodgy wax figure of Beyoncé in Madame Tussauds

“That’s Christina Aguilera.”

THIS IS BEYONCÉ.

And this is Beyoncé, according to Madame Tussauds.

Interesting interpretation.

Twitter user @CCFan007 shared a photo of the singer’s wax figure at Madame Tussauds and it immediately went viral, sparking a wider discussion about ‘whitewashing’ in the process.

People were quick to point out that the waxwork bore little to no resemblance to Beyoncé with many likening the figure to Christina Aguilera, Lindsay Lohan and, er, Joss Stone.

People were critical of Madame Tussauds’ decision to apparently lighten Beyoncé’s skin tone and giving her Britney-esque locks.

In a statement to TMZ, Madame Tussauds blamed poor lighting for the appearance of the waxwork.

Our talented team of sculptors takes every effort to ensure we accurately colour match all of our wax figures to the celebrity being depicted. Lighting within the attraction combined with flash photography may distort and misrepresent the colour of our wax figures.

Whatever you say, guys.
