6 glorious women who had Big Hair Energy
AT LAST MONTH’S Valentino Couture show, teenage model Kaia Gerber – daughter of a celebrity (Cindy Crawford) – because how else does one become a model these days – was the talking point of the show.
You can see why. Her hair was big.
Like really big.
With all the talk lately of Big Dick Energy, we got thinking to the women who have had Big Hair Energy or BHE…
1. Blake Lively

There’s not an awards season that goes by when Blake doesn’t give BHE. If you type ‘good hair day’ into google, all that comes up are pictures of Blake.
It’s clear why she was chosen for the starring role of Gossip Girl – her hair is so big that it contains secrets.
2. Marie Antoinette

Marie Antoinette and the original celebrity hairdresser, a Parisian lad called Léonard Autié, were pioneers in the hair world. They created the ‘pouf’, or ‘le pouf‘ in 1774 for the coronation of Marie Antoinette’s husband Louis XVI.
It had 14 yards of gauze wrapped around a tower, as well as containing two figures, a parrot and a plate of cherries because why the hell not, she’s Marie effing Antoinette.
3. Angela Davis
Thoughtco. Thoughtco.
Angela Davis’ afro became a political statement during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s in America during a time when black Americans were fighting for the recognition of their human rights and their culture as equal to white Americans.
Now that’s Big Dick Energy and Big Hair Energy.
4. Princess Diana

In the two decades during which she was famous, Diana’s hair was the hair you wanted. She had a gloriously puffed up, feathery mane during the decadent 1980s and shinier, shorter and slicker during the bared back 1990s.
5. Frida Khalo

Long before there was plastic festival flower crowns, there was Frida Khalo. The Mexican artists’ thick black milkmaid braids and adornment of fresh, but in no way delicate-looking, flowers were a striking statement of the strength of femininity. Her hair was made famous because of her flamboyant and expressive self-portraits.
6. Solange

When Solange dropped her album, A Seat At The Table, in 2016 it was an iconic moment for the singer/songwriter and for her hair, which even got a whole song written about it. In the era of Black Lives Matter, Solange’s ‘Don’t Touch My Hair‘ firmly laid out how important hair is as a form of self-expression for black people.
