This is what happens when a bird strikes a plane's windscreen
A FLORIDA PILOT had a lucky escape after a bird smashed through his windscreen.
Robert Weber was flying his Piper Saratoga towards Page Field in Fort Myers when the bird struck the front of his plane, breaking the windscreen.
Staying calm, Weber attempted to make a mayday call above the noise caused by the broken window.
According to NewsPress.com helped by other pilots he managed to get the message through to the control tower, which guided him back to the runway where a fire truck was waiting.
The air traffic controller congratulates him upon landing:
All that was left of the bird was a leg and some feathers. Weber walked away with just a cut on his head.
