Strike!

These bleak tube posters are exactly what you don't want to see going back to work

Well happy new year to you too.

THE RETURN TO work yesterday may have been tough for you, but spare a thought for Londoners who were greeted on their morning commute with these depressing posters.

It appears that the posters were put there by a branch of Anarchist magazine Strike!, and use quotes from an article written by anthropologist David Graeber called On the Phenomenon of Bullsh*t Jobs.

Over on Facebook, the magazine have claimed that “the militant wing of the anarchist publishers’ Special Patrol Group carried out the ‘attack’” yesterday and the it “is believed the attack was timed to coincide with the first day back to work for many employees”.

Speaking to Vice, Graeber said

I guess the idea is that today’s the first day people are going back to work, so I’m assuming whoever did it wants people, after having spent time with their families and doing things that they truly care about, to reflect on whether the job they’re going to is meaningful, what they actually think about it, and also the value of what they’re doing.

Oh, thanks.
