NEWS OF BOB Einstein’s death at the age of 76 was confirmed by his brother, Albert Brooks, yesterday evening.
Since then, social media has been awash with tributes to the Emmy Award-winning actor, perhaps best known to this generation for his roles as Marty Funkhouser in Curb Your Enthusiasm and Larry Middleman in Arrested Development.
With a nod to Bob’s unique brand of humour, his former co-star Larry David expressed his regret in a statement yesterday.
It was an amazing, unforgettable experience knowing and working with him. There was no one like him, as he told us again and again.
Yep; “as he told us again and again”.
“We’re all in a state of shock,” Larry added.
Meanwhile, Cheryl Hines, who stared alongside both men in Curb Your Enthusiasm, noted the impact Bob’s passing would have on the world of comedy.
We lost a friend today. Thanks for all the laughs on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Our love to Bob’s family. The comedy world will miss you.

Equally devastated, Richard Lewis, who plays himself in Curb Your Enthusiasm, told his Twitter followers that he was ‘in shock’.
I knew him forever. His long career is hard to match. His role on #curbyourenthusiasm was excruciatingly brilliant! Our cast and crew will be devastated.

Bob, who had been diagnosed with leukemia, has been the subject of countless other online tributes since news broke of his passing this week.
It is not yet known whether Bob was involved in the filming of the upcoming season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
