Here's why everyone is questioning Bob Geldof's Irishness

YESTERDAY BOB GELDOF stood in London’s Trafalgar Square as part of the Let’s Stay Together campaign, imploring Scottish voters to say ‘no’ to independence.

Geldof told the assembled thousands that

… we’re all f**king fed up with Westminster and it’s even more frustrating for us because we don’t even get to do the argument that you’ve begun.

He told Scottish voters that they can’t

…selfishly resolve it amongst yourselves by taking an easy opt out clause.

His comments have led to some confusion…

And a smidge of embarrassment from some Irish tweeters…

Supporters of a No vote meanwhile were thankful for his contribution…

Geldof is a longtime resident of England. He has lived at the Davington Priory estate in Kent for more than 30 years. He was born in Dublin in 1951.
