THE BODY SHOP must have been absolutely raking it in in the nineties.
Every teenager in the land had their paws on a bottle of White Musk perfume oil, body spray, body lotion (or maybe the whole collection if they had a particularly generous granny), and man alive were they not afraid to apply it.
White Musk was The Body Shop’s nod to glamour, to grown upness, to seeming vaguely sexy.
Sure, there was Dewberry for when you wanted to smell like a tenpenny bag, but White Musk elevated you to Woman. It elevated your rolled up skirt, your Kickers, your Nope hoodie to impossibly sophisticated levels.
Okay, okay, we’re getting carried away, but it was the unmistakable smell of the nineties.
Heads up, you can still buy White Musk fragrances from The Body Shop; it’s branched out into deodorants, home fragrance oils, White Musk for men… just in case you want everything in your life to smell like 1997.
