AFTER U2′S GIG in LA on Saturday night, it would appear Bono was in a generous mood.
As Billboard reports, Bono was having dinner in an LA restaurant following the band’s show when he left a $150 tip on a dinner that cost just $20.
The waitress that was serving him has worked in the legendary Canters Deli for 50 years apparently and helped him pick out what he was having:
the rocker asked his server to pick out his meal, which she did, bringing out a veritable mish-mash of classic Jewish deli fare including a corned beef reuben, french fries and onion rings. For dessert: chocolate chip rugelach on the house.
The gesture is obviously winning plaudits for its sheer generosity – and bringing out other equally valid responses:
Good man, Bono.
