FOR THOSE NOT travelling to Galway for the tail-end of the races or pitching a tent in Castlepalooza, we’ve compiled a list of websites that will keep you entertained for hours as you while away the Bank Holiday weekend.

Bored? Here's 8 websites perfect for a rainy day

  • My Parents Joined Facebook

Cringe! Myparentsjoinedfacebook.com - the reason you rejected your mam, your aunt and your baby cousin!
  • PostSecret

PostSecret.com has been around since 2005 so it's an oldie but a nice one to revisit. The community art project asks people to mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard. Some are funny, others thought provoking while many are incredibly sad. Save this one for a rainy Sunday when new secrets are posted.
  • Patently Silly

A thong diaper, a toilet table-top and a wind-assisted bicycle – they all have real patents issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office. Check out some more bizarre inventions at Patentlysilly.com
  • Paper Plane

Paper Plane is just one pretty simple game. Just fire the paper aircraft as far as you can… If you think you could be the only person amused by this one, you’re wrong. So far, over 401 million planes have been “thrown” on the site. My best effort – a fairly decent 37.74 metres – fared only 89,312 in the global ranks. You’ve been warned - http://flightsimx.archive.amnesia.com.au/
  • Matthew McConaughey

Whatwouldmatthewmcconaugheydo.com is an absolutely ridiculous website with no point whatsoever. Try to resist! Ask Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey what he would do in various situations and see what he says.
  • GoFugYourself

Jennifer Aniston's dress at her latest film's premiere - Do you love it or hate it? Or do you even care? The self-named Fug Girls, Heather and Jessica, rate celebrity outfits and give you a chance to have a say as well. They post daily at gofugyourself.com but much fun can be had flicking through their fug back catalogues.
  • Rrrather

Rrrather.com - It can be an annoying game sans computer but when you’re online you can waste hours away with conundrums such as, “Would you rather be a ninja or a pirate?” You know, the big questions life throws at you!
  • The Last Meals Project

Thelastmealsproject.com - Photographer Jonathon Kambouris documents the last meal of prisoners who have been sentenced to death. It sounds like morbid stuff but its a compelling read. The artist says there are multiple reasons for the food chosen by the inmates on Death Row but some simply ask for what they are craving right then and there.
