THIS IS TRUE friendship right here.
Gabby Ruiz was diagnosed with alopecia when she was four years old – her friend, Tyler Boone, wondered why she covered her head all the time.
His mother explained that Gabby had a condition that “wouldn’t let her grow hair”, at which point Tyler decided to grow his hair to make a wig.
She said Tyler just wanted to make Gabby feel better:
He said, “Well, it’s just hair. I can grow hair.”
According to ABC, it took him two years to grow the ten inches of hair needed to make a wig, but he stuck it out – and when it was time to cut it off, Gabby did the honours.
The organisation Children With Hair Loss has taken the hair to create the wig, which Gabby should receive in around six weeks’ time. Her mother says she’s excited to try it out:
She’s been comfortable with herself regardless, but she’s at that age. She’s about to be 13 and she wants something different.
She told Buzzfeed that she was “blown away” by Tyler’s kindness.
It’s a sweet thing that a kid at his age would want to do that for a friend. To see Gabby smile after going through all of this has been really sweet.
