Boyzone's emotional tribute to Stephen Gately... by drinking wine at Dublin gig

They poured themselves a drink on stage and told some stories.

BOYZONE PLAYED DUBLIN’S O2 last night, the opening show of their BZ20 tour.

The tour marks 20 years of the band. In the lead-up, there has been speculation over whether they would pay tribute to Stephen Gately during the show.

So they got a bottle of wine, set out a table on stage, and poured themselves a drink.

Then they told some stories about him. Ronan said:

We will always be that five-piece when the four of us are together, and that’s that. And that’s why we’re here tonight.

They then sang their song Better, with a recording of Stephen’s voice singing his parts. Ronan was visibly emotional.
