THE CLIFF WALK from Bray to Greystones is a favourite among walking enthusiasts.
At the edge of the cliff walk lies a garden that has been quietly tended to for several years. Nobody knew the identity of the mystery gardener until yesterday when local woman Tessa Stewart happened across the ‘guerilla gardener’ looking after his patch.
Stewart shared some photos on the Bray Open Forum Facebook and thanked the gardener, identified as Stephen Haines, for keeping the cliff walk looking lovely.
“Many thanks to our Bray guerrilla gardener up by the cliff path car park, for all the beauty and pleasure you have given us over the years,” she wrote.
Stewart confirmed that the gardener is a local who lives nearby and has been busy maintaining the garden for 25 years.
The post was liked hundreds of times with people commenting to thank the guerilla gardener for his service.
“This is the kind of selfless volunteer who should be recognised for the good work,” wrote one commenter. “Wondered who was responsible for sharing such beauty. Thank you,” wrote another.
An unsung hero finally getting his due <3
