Not too shabby.

PRESIDENT MICHAEL D Higgins has arrived in London, for a historic State Visit hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.

And in case anyone was wondering how far we’ve come… the British monarchy are tweeting in Irish.

Following President Higgins’ arrival, the official @BritishMonarchy account – which tweets official state news and the Queen’s schedule – posted:

This translates as:

The Irish President and Ms Higgins have reached London and the Queen’s representatives were there to greet them #welcome #StateVisit

And the European Parliament’s Irish Twitter feed has responded:

Top quality Irish ye have, fair play! We’re sure the President will take great pleasure and benefit from the trip.
