BROOKLYN NINE-NINE fans, rejoice!
The comedy series, which had been cancelled by Fox, has been picked u by American network NBC for its sixth season.
After debuting in 2013, the police-focused show has been the subject of considerable praise over the course of its run for its diverse cast and inclusive storylines.
The internet lost the plot over its cancellation, withs fans calling for networks to #SaveB99 on Twitter.
Hulu, Netflix and TBS were also said to be among those outlets who reached out to Universal TV after the cancellation, though Netflix later passed on the series.
Speaking about the 13-episode renewal, NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said: “Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home.
[Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars] Mike Schur, Dan Goor and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest and best-cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy lineup. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”
Samberg, who plays Jake Peralta on the show, took to The Lonely Island’s Instagram to announce the good news:
