Buddies: Blind dog and his nervous friend heal each other

The power of (puppy) love heals all.

IT’S MORE THAN a case of puppy love – this is the real deal.

A golden retriever named Tanner was facing an uncertain future after being passed on by two owners who couldn’t accommodate his health problems: blind since birth, the two-year-old also suffered from intense nightly seizures.

However, after he was taken in the Woodland West Animal Hospital in Oklahoma he struck up an unlikely friendship a nervous street dog called Blair.

After being shot as a puppy, Blair – a mixed-breed – was skittish around people and other animals.

Neither animal had good prospects of adoption, and Tanner was facing possible euthanasia due to his seizures.

But, one day, the pair were placed in the yard to play together and formed an incredible bond. Seemingly aware of her friend’s blindness, Blair now guides Tanner around the centre – with a leash.

Vets say the friendship has soothed Blair and she’s now less nervous – and, incredibly, Tanner’s seizures have stopped.

The pair are looking for a new home (together of course) so if you know anyone State-side who could care for the doggie-duo direct them to the animal hospital’s website.
