IT’S BEEN QUITE a week for Cavan-based musician Ben Folkman.
He’s been on a fundraising odyssey around Ireland with six friends – playing 32 gigs in 32 counties to raise money for his five-year-old son Jarrah who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, CVI blindness and refractory epilepsy, all of which have a major impact on his life.
It’s been some journey
And so far they have raised nearly €4000 on GoFundMe for Jarrah
And more besides on the road
They started out in County Louth and made their way through the streets and bars of every county
Finishing in Jarrah’s mam Elysha’s home town of Cootehill, Cavan
A lovely and heartwarming fundraising imitative, as Ben writes on the GoFundMe:
He’s growing bigger fast and often has to be carried. He needs special equipment and funds raised will go directly towards that. This initiative is also a celebration of his life and his courageous spirit. He’s just such a beautiful young boy, I’d do anything for him. He deserves a decent life like any of us.
Well played, dad
