Cadbury confirm they won't be selling chocolate coins in Ireland this Christmas

We thought we had escaped.

THE INTERNET AND wider world was taken aback this morning with the news that Cadbury had announced the end of the road for their humble chocolate coin.

Announcing the move on Twitter yesterday in response to a Telegraph writer’s query, the casual revelation of the news came as a disturbing shock.

We reached out to Cadbury Ireland in the small hope that we might escape the chop. The confectionery company told DailyEdge.ie that there’s no such luck.

The coins will be discontinued in Ireland, the decision has been taken because of decreasing popularity and a desire to concentrate on our more successful Christmas lines.

A nation mourns, and #choccoingate is born.
