A cafe in Tullamore is serving free dinner on Christmas Day for people who are struggling

THE NEWLY RE-OPENED Bakehouse cafe and restaurant in Tullamore, Offaly is situated on O’Connor Square in the centre of the town – and they’ve come up with a ridiculously kind Christmas gesture.
They’re planning to open their doors on Christmas Day for homeless people and those struggling to afford a Christmas dinner for themselves.
So they’ll be serving food in the afternoon to anyone who needs it

Local politician Ken Smollen announced the plan on Facebook yesterday, and the post has gone viral since. Derek Coyne, one of the owners of the cafe, told DailyEdge.ie that the response has been marvellous:
It’s not just the homeless in Tullamore that they’ll be serving, as Derek explains:
“We put it on Facebook yesterday afternoon to see if there would be more interest – and it’s just snowballed from there.”

Derek and fellow owner Declan Gorman only came up with the idea yesterday – so the exact details of what will be served have to be ironed out.
