It's officially Call Everyone Dave Day! Fans honour Trigger from Only Fools

Here’s why people might call you Dave today, even if it’s not your name.

ROGER LLOYD-PACK, the actor beloved as Trigger in Only Fools and Horses, died last month at the age of 69 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Today would have been his 70th birthday. And in honour of his most famous OFAH moment, fans have created Call Everyone Dave Day.

To mark it, you call everyone you meet Dave, regardless of their real name:

The official Call Everyone Dave Day Facebook page set up to spread the word about the event has so far attracted almost 50,000 likes.

Organisers are also collecting donations for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

And someone took the time to mock up this rather excellent billboard:

Twitter users are joining in with gusto:

So that’s why people might call you Dave today, even if it’s not your name.

If it’s a girl they’re naming it Sigourney, after the actress. If it’s a boy they’re naming him Rodney, after Dave.
