RAILTOWN CAFE IS a rather delish-looking eatery in Vancouver, Canada with a couple of locations in the downtown area.
They do soups, sambos, salads and all that sort of stuff on a daily basis. They’re also hosting a special Paddy’s Day party this Friday – which is great news – but there’s just one slight problem:
This is the main photo for the event
We need to talk about the artistic-style messy Guinness on display.
Spotted today by Joe.ie, that’s the kind of pint that gives Guinness abroad a bad name – so let’s hope it’s just for show.
We can even forgive them the description if we can get assurances on the quality of the pint:
Calling all bonny lasses and lads! Join us at Railtown Cafe (both locations!) for a wee bit o’ St. Patrick’s Day fun this Friday, March 17!
We’ll be raising a glass to Ireland’s patron saint at both our Railway and Howe Street cafe locations with St. Patrick’s Day-themed decor and Irish-inspired food and drink specials all day long.Come dressed in your St. Patrick’s Day best ….cheers to the luck o’ the Irish!!!
An Instagram post shows that the pint in question was poured from a can, so that’s some consolation
WILL THEY HAVE GUINNESS ON TAP?
DailyEdge.ie has contacted the café to let them know the Irish people’s concerns regarding this important matter.
Update, March 15: Railtown have replaced the offending image with a proper pint of the black stuff:
And as an apology, anyone with an Irish passport will get a free pint and a shot of Jameson on Friday – as they wrote on Facebook:
Thanks for the friendly comments, everyone! We’re not all a bunch of maple-syrup drinking snow farmers and to make up for the blasphemous pour depicted in the photo, we’ve poured another pint that we hope is worthy of Ireland.
In true Canadian fashion, we’d like to apologize, so we’re inviting anyone of age with a valid Irish passport to join us this Friday, St. Patrick’s Day, for a perfectly poured Guinness and a shot of Jameson.
Well played.
