Caption competition: Labour campaign car clamped

Labour might be seeing red at this…

THE LABOUR PARTY has big plans for its general election campaign.

Unfortunately it seems campaigners have been stopped in their tracks this morning after one of their Eamon Gilmore-emblazoned cars was clamped outside the party’s campaign office in central Dublin.

When asked about the reaction to the restricting turn in events, a campaign staff member told TheJournal.ie: “Ooops.”

So, we asked our readers to take part in a caption competition. On top of some of the zingers in the comments below, here are some we’ve gleaned from Facebook:

  • “It appears that Vincent Brown has pulled some strings in order to keep Joan Burton from getting near the TV3 studios again.” (Terry O’Dowd)
  • “That’s what the mayor in the Wire did to his competitors’ campaign offices…” (Trevor J Coonan)
  • “The Empire Strikes Back” (Graham Ó Maonaigh)
  • “Typical Greens. Will go to any lengths to reduce carbon emissions.” (Niall Shanahan)
  • “The gilforce is not strong in this one.” (Kirsten Gordon)
  • “It’s really not a bother. We’ve a horse outside.” (Siobhán Burke)
