Cardboard Gangsters, Kick-Ass 2, Queer Eye and everything else that's new to Netflix this weekend
1. Cardboard Gangsters
Rated 100% by critics on Rotten Tomatoes, John Connors’ 2017 movie Cardboard Gangsters is now on Netflix, if you didn’t manage to catch it in cinemas. Set in Darndale, it’s been lauded a Dublin version of Boyz n the Hood – “noisy, loud, violent and sad.”
2. My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman: George Clooney
As you probably expect from the title, David Letterman interviewed George Clooney. They chat for 60 mins about loads of topics, including how George met Amal.
3. Dynasty (Season One)
Nope, not *that* Dynasty, but the reboot. The Carringtons and the Colbys feud for control over their fortune and their children in a modern day setting. iPhones, laptops and homosexual relationships bring Dynasty into the 21st century.
4. Queer Eye (Season One)
A gang of five gay men head out and offer makeovers to people, clear junk out of their homes and help straight men step out of their comfort zones.
5. Black Lightning
Jefferson Pierce is a superhero who can harness and control electricity. The type of person you’d like to share a tent with at a music festival when your phone’s gone dead. Pierce steps out of the crime-fighting scene for a decade, hoping that the violence and stress on his family will end, but he gets dragged right back in when the safety of his entire community is at risk.
6. When We First Met
A guy meets the girl of his dreams and they have the perfect first date. However, it doesn’t end in a relationship. Three years later, she’s about to marry his best friend and he’s full of regret that he didn’t make a move when he had the chance, but gets the chance to rectify this when he accidentally travels back in time.
7. Seeing Allred
A documentary about Gloria Allred, a woman who has spent 40 years asserting and protecting the rights of women, overcoming her own personal trauma while being scrutinized by media and powerful men.
8. Kick-Ass 2
Chloe Moretz and Aaron Taylor-Johnson star as Kick-Ass and Hit Girl – two superheroes trying to live like normal teenagers while fighting crime together.
9. Fred Armisen: Standup For Drummers
An extreme niche comedy show.
10. David Brent: Life on the Road
This one won’t be on Netflix until tomorrow, but it’s a slightly less niche comedy show.
11. Beyond (Season two)
From the people behind Battlestar Galactica and Heroes, comes Beyond. A young man wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy.
12. Fury
Brad Pitt stars as battle-hardened army sergeant Don Collier, who leads his five-man Sherman tank crew into a deadly mission behind enemy lines during WWII.
