WHICH NEW MOVIE release is worth the price of a cinema ticket this weekend?
We’re here to help you decide just that, with these trailers.
Carrie
For fans of: Blood, prom queens, the original movie
Avoid if: Your disposition is of the delicate variety
This remake of the 1976 horror classic updates the high-school setting to the present day, with bullies uploading Carrie’s plight to YouTube (among other torments). They’ll get theirs, though. Chloe Grace Moretz stars as Carrie with Julianne Moore as her religious-fanatic mother.

Saving Mr Banks
For fans of: Mary Poppins (come on, who isn’t?)
Avoid if: You believe a spoonful of sugar doesn’t make the medicine go down
This movie dramatises the journey of writer PL Travers – the author of Mary Poppins, played by Emma Thompson – to Hollywood. There she meets Walt Disney (Tom Hanks), who is badgering her to let him bring her novel to the big screen. Our own Colin Farrell gets a look in as Travers’ alcoholic and bad-tempered father.

Free Birds
For fans of: Turkey farming, light-hearted animated films about birds
Avoid if: The thought of hundreds of cartoon turkeys on a giant screen makes you afraid or uncomfortable
Owen Wilson and Amy Poehler star in this very American, Thanksgiving-themed movie about a turkey seeking his freedom. Villain of the moment Colm Meaney does a turn as a hunter, and Woody Harrelson leads the Turkey Liberation Front. The role he was born for.
