CW: This article doesn’t contain spoilers as such, but die-hard fans who (inexplicably) missed last night’s finale may find it a difficult read.
Well, that’s it; it’s over.
After four years, a highly emotional viewership bid its final farewell to Catastrophe, and Christ knows it wasn’t easy.
Before we had even clapped eyes on the opening scenes of the final episode, viewers were wringing hands and weaving tissues through fingers, unsure whether they’d even get through it.
#Catastrophe this gonna be a sad watch, tissues at the ready!

And to be honest, it’s very likely they didn’t given the show’s ending.
Naturally, we’re not about to spoil it for anyone – everyone deserves a grace period of at least a few days when it comes to show finales – but suffice to say, if you’re a fan of the show and you missed last night’s episode, you may want to catch up immediately, if not sooner.
In fact, just go now; we’ll square it with your boss.
Without revealing too much, the highly acclaimed sitcom left viewers agape last night as the final scene reminded everyone that the ‘happily every after’ trope – usually the reserve of sitcom finales – wasn’t going to be relied upon in the case of Catastrophe… or was it?
See? See? That’s the real way to end a show, guys.
But was it what the audience wanted? Here’s how everyone reacted as the final credits rolled.
I don’t know how I feel about that. Was I the only one who came away with a bad feeling about that final shot? #Catastrophe
