It's official: Cecelia Ahern has confirmed she's written the sequel to PS, I Love You

“There she is beside her sister.”

FOR ALMOST FIVE months in 2004, Cecelia Ahern’s debut novel, PS I Love You, remained at the top of the Irish book charts, before hitting the silver screen three years later with Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler playing lead characters, Holly and Gerry.

Given the book’s commercial success 15 years ago, it’s no surprise that news of its sequel has been met with sheer delight from anyone who invested their time in Holly Kennedy’s story of love and loss.

In a series of posts shared to Instagram this evening, Cecelia confirmed that she had completed Postscript – the sequel to her debut novel.

“I’ve done it. I’ve written the sequel to PS I LOVE YOU and it’s titled POSTSCRIPT,” she told her followers.

It’s the P.S to my P.S of 15 years ago and writing it has been an emotional experience. I don’t know how I’ve succeeded in keeping this a secret for so long but I’ve been bursting to share it.

In a separate post, the 37-year-old novelist, who has sold more than 25 million copies of her books worldwide, shared a photo of her debut novel alongside her newest manuscript.

“There she is. Beside her sister. Ready to go… #Postscript,” she wrote.

Postscript will be published in Ireland and the UK in September.
