CeeLo Green quits Twitter after rape and consent tweets
F**K YOU SINGER CeeLo Green has deleted his Twitter account after posting a series of tweets around the issue of rape and consent.
Green pleaded no contest on Friday to furnishing ecstasy to a woman without her consent during a dinner in LA in October 2012. He was sentenced to probation and community service.
When he was charged in relation to the drug incident in October 2013 prosecutors had rejected a rape charge due to lack of evidence, reports Complex.
Green’s lawyers had said that the pair had had consensual sex.
After his court appearance Green took to Twitter to attempt to define rape and the idea of consent. The tweets have since been deleted, but screengrabs exist via @omgLSP.
Green went on to delete many of his tweets, saying he didn’t want “negative energy” in his timeline. Yesterday he deleted his entire account, but not before tweeting:
