Celebrities and a cat campaign for a Pulitzer for The Onion
TOM HANKS AND Ricky Gervais are among the celebrities who’ve joined a campaign for the satirical website The Onion to win a Pulitizer prize.
A group called Americans for Fairness in Awarding Journalism Prizes is leading the campaign, which has drawn support from all over America, with mechanics, police officers, celebrities, an astrophysicist and even a cat uploading their videos of support to YouTube.
The Onion itself has already expressed disappointment over not being awarded a Pulitzer – the prizes were handed out recently but once again the publication was left empty handed, and The Onion writers are not happy….
Along with Hanks and Gervais, Arianna Huffington, author Neil Gaiman, Ricky Gervais, astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Bo the Dog are just some of those who are backing The Onion for one of journalism’s top prizes in the US.
