LAST NIGHT, THE UK version of Gogglebox returned to our screens.
For the first time since the show began, it was missing Leon and June, who were probably the most lovable couple on the TV show.
Retired school-teacher Leon passed away at the age of 83 on the 23rd of December 2017. Shortly after, June confirmed that she would not be returning to the show. The first episode of the new series ended with a dedication Leon.
June let everybody on Twitter know that she was still tuned into the show. One fan suggested that June should return to the show with a friend. Her response?
“No, it was just Leon and June.” I think there’s something in my eye.
Their absence was definitely felt by viewers, who took to Twitter to express that the show was just not the same without June and Leon.
When a segment featuring Theresa May was shown, viewers wondered how Leon would have reacted. It’s not hard to guess, since he was always vocal about his disdain for the Conservative Party.
Channel 4 paid tribute to Leon on their Twitter account shortly before the new episode of Gogglebox aired.

He was too good for this world.
Leon and June weren’t the only Gogglebox favourites missing from the show last night.
On Thursday Chris Butland-Steed announced that he wasn’t going to be returning to the show. The hairdresser announced on Twitter that he’s looking for some new work on television.
His ex-boyfriend Stephen will remain on the show. From now on, he’ll be joined by his mother Pat. Once the dogs are still there, that’s all that matters.
And viewers were introduced to a new family: Kathy, Cilla and Elvie.
It did not take fans long to warm up to these ladies.
