Teenager charged 1p for having to show her ID in the off-licence

Adding insult to injury.

19-YEAR-OLD SIAN HEATHER went to buy a bottle of wine on Monday when she was asked to show her ID.

Grand.

When she later check the receipt of her purchase in the Bargain Booze store in Eastbourne, West Sussex, she noticed they had charged for 1p for her troubles.

Speaking to the Metro, Sian said she buys booze from the shop regularly but had never spotted the charge before.

It made me wonder just how many times I’ve had to pay there in the past for the privilege of being old enough to buy alcohol.

The store quickly tweeted a reply, promising that it wasn’t a standard charge.

£3 for the whole transaction though, AND you get a bottle of wine.

We’ll allow it.
