CHARLOTTE CROSBY CAME in for substantial criticism on Twitter last night, and it’s all down to remarks she made about Dr Alex’s sunburn on Love Island.
It all kicked off when the former Geordie Shore star decided to share her feelings on Love Island, honing in specifically on Dr Alex, his ‘wooden plank personality’ and his ‘vile pink face’.
Yeah, not exactly one to hold back.
Dr Alex....WOW. I have no words for your horrendous sun burnt skin. AND BAD ATTITUDE, your bloody lucky to have one girl even take an interest in your wooden plank personality. The way you even thought you could mess poor Alexandra around makes me feel sick 🤢 #VilePinkface

Alex’s family were quick to respond to Charlotte’s remarks by retweeting the original post and highlighting the difference between critiquing an individual’s behaviour and deriding their appearance.
Expressing an opinion for disliking someone’s personality or mannerisms is understandable, but to attack people for their physical appearance could be considered bullying. Some people are genetically more susceptible to sunlight, some people have slower metabolisms.
With the number of suicides and mental health problems related to cyber bullying we would have expected better from someone with such an influencial online following. If anyone is bullied because of their physical appearance, don’t stand for it or speak to others for help.
Charlotte acknowledged their response by stating she had a right as a Love Island viewer to comment on Dr Alex, and apologised if her remark on his appearance offended anyone.
She ended the series of tweets with a final dig at both Alex and his family, writing:
They are new to this all so it’s understandable they incredibly over sensitive. But don’t worry give it a year or so no1 will have much to say about Alex. (sic)
Just wanted to clear up the Alex tweet. For all of you who know me know I’m many things: loud, outspoken and occasionally a bit crazy. One thing I am not is a bully. Being famous doesn’t mean I am above having an opinion and expressing that opinion. Neither does it mean that....

I don’t sometimes go in too hard especially when I see a girl getting treated shitty by a boy on a reality TV show, that’s something obviously close to my heart. I’m sorry if I offended anyone with my animated observation of Alex’s sunburn - it was not my intention....

and I don’t want this to blow up into something it’s not. After all this is love island and we’re all on an emotional rollercoaster with it....

It’s a shame Alex’s family the anti bullying patrons then encouraged TREBLE the amount of ACTUAL bullying back. But they are new to this all so it’s understandable they incredibly over sensitive. But don’t worry give it a year or so no1 will have much to say about alex....

However, it seems like Charlotte’s response to the issue only served to alienate her from viewers, who agreed with Dr Alex’s family.
As a result, Charlotte was on the receiving end of thousands of negative messages, which she referenced during a tearful Instagram story last night.
Crying, Charlotte said that by highlighting her comment about Dr Alex, his family essentially encouraged social media users to bully her.
Twitter, however, isn’t buying it.
Charlotte Crosby can’t be for real with her Instagram story?Ppl are standing up against bullying that’s why they are making her accountable for her comments and now shes claiming she is the victim?!?!?!?! And Alex family is to blame?!? #loveisland #antibullying #charlottecrosby

I hate when people do something wrong and then play the victim card!! Your action caused this reaction not the othe way round!!
— Clare💋 (@Shortys_Story) July 21, 2018
so maybe if you think before you tweet then you wouldn't got the reaction you did!! YOU was in the wrong #CharlotteCrosby NOT #DrAlexFriends ....
Wow.... Charlotte continuing to take the piss out of Alex on Instagram story shows after her victim speech... where’s the maturity & remorse, that isn’t how to handle the situation. Take ownership, have authenticity and apologise. Actually shocked #loveisland #charlottecrosby

#charlottecrosby maybe you should think before you speak! Your tweet was nasty, what did you expect!

Bullying itself is disgusting.. but for someone with such a large following to degrade and belittle another human being, just because they don't agree with thier choices, is utterly disgraceful. #loveisland #charlottecrosby #whatadisgrace #stoponlinebullying @Charlottegshore https://t.co/J6LOWYvHRI
