CHERYL, THE ARTIST formerly known as Cheryl Tweedy, Cheryl Cole, and Cheryl Versini Fernandez, has landed herself a new job.
This afternoon, the singer announced on her Instagram story that she was set to join a new BBC One show called The Greatest Dancer.
In the video, Cherly said:
Hi, so I’ve got some exciting news. I am going to be joining a new show called The Greatest Dancer for BBC one.
I am going to be joining Oti and Matthew as a dance captain and Alesha and Jordan will be hosting. Stay tuned for more news to my Instagram.
The ‘Matthew’ Cheryl is referring to is none other than Matthew Morrison, who played teacher Will Schuester on Glee.
Of his new role, Matthew said:
This is such a powerful moment for me. It’s wonderful to continue bringing music and dance into people’s lives like we did on Glee. Dance is a safe haven that allows us to communicate where words cannot. It’s an expression of love and empowerment, driven by all the emotions that make us human.
The third and final dance captain is Oti Mabuse, who has been a professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing for the past three sesaons.
Oti finished runners-up with Hollyoaks actor Danny Mac in 2016.
Former Strictly Come Dancing judge Alesha Dixon will be hosting the show.
Hosting alongside Aleesha will be Jordan Banjo, who was a member of dance troupe Diversity who won the third series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009.
Auditions will take place in Birmingham at the ICC, and the series is due to be aired in 2019.
Cherly said of the show:
I’m so excited to be part of The Greatest Dancer! I’m looking for acts with real passion, who are going to push boundaries and give it their all, no matter what challenges are thrown at them.
From my own dance background, I know the dedication and commitment dancing takes, I can’t wait to get started.
And we can’t wait to watch.
