AS YOU MAY or may not have heard, Cheryl and Liam Payne have decided to go their separate ways.

The pair were together for two and a half years, and share a son together, called Bear.

Now, tabloids are looking for someone to blame for the split, as is what usually happens when celebs call it a day.

This time around, the target is Cheryl’s mum, Joan Callaghan.

The Daily Mail ran an exclusive claiming that Joan was “getting in the way” of their romance.

The insider said:

Cheryl’s mum is part of the problem. She indulges her behaviour and never reprimands her. Instead, Joan will make everyone around Cheryl tow the line.”

Not so fast – Cheryl took to her Notes app before then taking to Twitter to address the speculation:

I hate responding to stuff especially at such difficult times but I cannot sit here and listen to such nasty, false articles regarding my mam. I don’t know why they involve her in stories about me. I can assure you she has absolutely nothing to do with any of it.

I am a grown woman who is capable of dealing with my own life. She is a soft and kind woman who doesn’t deserve to be dragged into something that has nothing whatsoever to do with her.”
