CHRIS O’DOWD IS some man to tell a story.
As usual, ahead of the Oscars on Sunday, the Ireland Funds threw a party in West Hollywood to celebrate Ireland’s 2018 Academy Award Nominees.
Victoria Smurfit hosted the bash, and Chris O’Dowd was among the attendees.
Chris, as we all know, is from Boyle in Roscommon. An Oscar nominee this year is fellow Roscommon man, Paul Young, of Cartoon Saloon.
We can’t really deny that all Irish people don’t know each other somehow, when it was revealed that the two actually are childhood friends.
The two even worked together on the children’s series Puffin Rock, with Young producing and O’Dowd lending his voice for narration.
According to Irish Central, the lads have the perfect bromance.
Chris, in his usual jokey way, told Smurfit that he and Young met through Lacrosse.
We played lacrosse together, yeah.
Young added:
In the tennis courts. Everybody thought we were great.
Paul was in the corner drawing, I was telling jokes as he was drawing.
They later admitted that they actually met as Young’s sister was in O’Dowd’s class in school.
Chris noted that he hopes Paul would remember him after his Oscar nomination and that they would both work togather again in the future.
He probably doesn’t wish him TOO much success though, as Chris stars in Loving Vincent, a rival animation in the same Oscar’s category as the Breadwinner this weekend.
