Chris O'Dowd inspired the best Graham Norton red chair story ever
THE GRAHAM NORTON Show was almost an Irish fest last night.
Chris O’Dowd and Colin Farrell were on the couch, Graham was presenting of course… and then there was John in the red chair.
John landed into the chair, was coy about where he was from in Ireland, plumping simply for ‘the west’ and began to tell a tale from his childhood, about twenty years ago.
You see John’s parents (from somewhere in the west of Ireland) were going out for the night and their regular babysitter Jenny was busy.
Jenny recommended her younger brother for the job instead. John’s mother wasn’t too keen, John said, and it turned out she was right to be worried.
(Can you see where John’s going with this story? We can, but at this stage Chris O’Dowd is none the wiser, he’s just listening politely)
Before long, the penny drops:
John continues with the tale, explaining what happened when his parents got home:
And then John’s mother turned to the babysitter and said:
RUMBLED!
O’Dowd said that as the story was progressing he thought to himself: “I don’t like the sound of this”, before allowing John to walk from the red chair.
So noble.
