Chrissy Teigen made a good point about how differently the media treats working fathers after child birth
EARLIER THIS WEEK, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend introduced their new son Miles to the world.
Gorge. Everyone was really happy for them, especially … Julie, for some reason.
Anyway, while Chrissy stayed at home to mind the childer, John went back to work, performing his new song ‘Good Night’ at the Billboard Music Awards.
As usual, Chrissy delivered her signature biting commentary via Twitter, via her couch, probably. (Apparently, big sister Luna wasn’t happy with the shoutout Miles got at the awards. What about her, huh?)
“Hello, it’s short rib night, be home by 9,” she indirected John with a video of her cooking.
Her most notable take, however, was probably this one:
Listen, it was obviously said tongue-in-cheek. But fair point though, right? The headlines would be very different, if Chrissy had found herself strolling down the red carpet at the awards post-partum. Why does John get a free pass?
The media is obsessed with mothers ‘bouncing back’, but on their terms. Too soon, and they’re terrible mothers. Too late, and their slovenly wenches. Gals can’t win, unfortunately.
Anyway, all that matters is that her and baby Miles are all ok, and having a lovely time getting to know each other, which they appear to be doing.
