THE LAST FEW weeks in America have been pretty horrifying. President Donald Trump and his government have been separating thousands of children from their families. While this policy has been halted for the time being, it is unclear how the children who have already been separated from their parents will be reunited.

Over the weekend, thousands of Americans attended the ‘Families Belong Together’ rally in Washington to end the separation policy and to end the family internment camps which have been set up at various places along the US-Mexican border.

Hollywood’s power couple of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have been vocal in their opposition to the current policy and attended the LA event. They also brought their kids to the rally with Chrissy carrying baby Miles as she addressed the crowds.

Chrissy was up on stage to introduce John but before he came on stage she took a minute to give a speech about why they were there and why she felt it was important to bring Miles up on stage with her.

I’m incredibly proud to be a daughter of an immigrant. My mother grew up in a very small village in Thailand, and she never lets me forget it.”

We love that the American story is filled with people who come from all over the world to have a better life here. America at its best is big, beautiful, and diverse. It’s not small, it’s not petty, and it’s not exclusive, like Mar-a-Lago.”

She also did a pretty spot on impression of Donald Trump.

Can you imagine this city without the contribution of immigrants? How bland, how flavourless LA would be. Too many people demonize immigrants like they’re stealing something from the people who are born here. Immigrants don’t come here to take from us, they add to what makes America special.

What a woman.
